2020 has been a challenging, peculiar year for everybody with many unexpected difficulties that have tested us as individuals and as a company.
Yet, far from weakening us, it has given us the strength to continue growing with our Team and an opportunity to learn how resilient we can be.
Around this time every year we have a treasured tradition that, despite all the challenges, we were determined to carry out: The delivery of Christmas presents to the 65 children living on our coffee farms in Panama and an annual bonus for each of our 40 farmworkers.
Traditionally we would all gather together with all the admin staff, the owners of the company, the farm management team, the farm workers and their children and some local suppliers and community leaders, on finca Cuatro Caminos for a Christmas party.
Under normal circumstances there would be clowns, a bouncing castle, face painting, and games for the children. Along with lots of delicious food, Christmas presents for the children and bonuses for the staff.
This year, we were determined not to let the pandemic deprive the children of this exciting annual event.
So, instead of having a party, we delivered the bonuses to the farm workers located on each of our 11 farms, and each of the children received their Christmas presents, delivered to them by our very own Santa Claus, our Farm Foreman, Jose Saracini.
The beaming smiles on the children's faces and the appreciation of the parents, makes it all worthwhile. Never more so than now, after a tough 2020.
We know that 2021 will be another year full of challenges, but we also know that we can count on a strong team, with committed people and with enough experience and strength to continue, to adapt and to thrive.
