Piggy Back on 10 Years of Growth and Development

In June of 2014, almost 10 years ago now, we decided to acquire underperforming coffee farms in the world-famous coffee-growing region of Boquete, Panama, and turn them around into well-run, high-end specialty farms.

Boquete was producing some of the best and most expensive coffee in the world, but this was only done by a handful of families.

Most of the farmers lacked the education, motivation, and capital to apply modern farming practices and acquire modern equipment to grow, produce, and process specialty coffee.

So we began raising private equity to acquire these farms, apply capital and coffee science to turn them around. At the same time, we hired all the native Indian coffee farmers who lived on the farms and paid them a living wage. We improved their houses and working conditions and made it possible for 89 of their children to attend school through our Scholar program.

The last 10 years were not all smooth sailing. Subdividing the farms and issuing hundreds of individual deeds for each half-acre parcel became very slow and challenging. Now we are proud to say that 11 of our 12 farms have been completed with deeds issued to every investor in those 11 farms and that farm #12 is in process.

We also learned how coffee growing conditions were changing along with the changing weather, so we adjusted and adapted our farming practices and forecasts accordingly. In agriculture, you always need to be agile and ready to adapt.

Now as we approach our 10-year anniversary we can look around and be very proud of what we have built.

We currently have 155 hectares (387 acres) of coffee farmland under management, comprised of 12 specialty coffee farms.

All of the farms are 100% planted. With our carefully engineered planting program, we plant 3,333 trees per hectare, giving us 516,615 coffee trees in various stages of development.

Our region's industry standard for coffee production is 1 pound to 1.5 pounds of green coffee per tree per year. So that gives us a production capacity of 516,615 to 774,922 pounds of green coffee per year when we reach full production.

We built an on-site proprietary coffee processing mill using the best-in-class equipment from Pinhalense. With the addition of a new 40m2 building this year and regular extensions and expansions over the years, we have increased the size of our original coffee processing, evaluation, and storage facility from 170m2 in 2016 to 775m2 today.

We have built housing and roads, installed electricity and solar panels and developed several on-site nurseries and our own coffee testing laboratory.

What does this have to do with you?

If you are reading these newsletters, it is because you expressed an interest in investing in one of our coffee farms but have yet to do so.

One of the most significant benefits for investors coming on board now is that the foundations and support systems have been built up over the last 10 years. So you get the benefits of economies of scale and years of investment, construction, and training that will be applied to developing these new farms.

Nube Coffee Estate is our final coffee farm acquisition and your last opportunity to participate alongside us in one of our coffee farmland opportunities in Panama.
